The idea of making the group crops up at the middle of the sixties, from a group of girls who were members of the old 'Santa Barbara' climb club and that who got to convince a group of friends until they founded the group in 1968.

The first steps were made with the help of the group 'Lizar Makil' of Andoain and later on with the group Argia from San Sebastian as well as Juan Antonio Urbeltz's help.

Nowadays the group keeps the same work policy as in their beginings that is to say, there´s a leading group ( a board of directors ) that take the decisions unanimously but taking into a count the roules that are predetermined previously by all the members of the group.

The objetive of Erketz is fundamentaly to keep and grow up the basque folklore in Lasarte Oria. At the same time it tries to

show our culture to foreing countries by trips and traditions to foreing countries by trips and cultural interchanges.

Lasarte-Oria is a town of the Guipuzcoa area with 17861 inhabitants and 5875 m2 of area from 8 km to the south of the capital San Sebastian.

It is potentialy industrial but it keeps in harmony with the nature and the traditional economy of the Basque farm.
